The staff was really nice and welcoming and everything on the menu looked great. We ordered breakfast burritos and menudo and both were delicious; best menudo I've ever had. The burritos was also very tasty, but the highlight was their hot sauces!!! Everything was fresh and authentic and we will definitely be back.

Do not judge this place by the outside looks! At a glance it looks like it is a to go only place, but it has an inside area with tables and its actually nice and very clean. Our server was Andy who right off the bat we could tell he really cared about what he was doing. He was kind and very helpful. Food was very good too.. we got breakfast burritos. The chipotle sauce was good flavor and spice level. The beans in the burrito were something that I had not tried before in a breakfast burrito but they were a nice addition to the chorizo and bacon. It gave it a tastes like home feel. Also prices were almost unbelievable. We got a great burrito and for less than 10$! Looking forward to coming back. Great local place in Long Beach.

This place is so good. Not to mention the service is the best!! It's a small establishment with a couple tables inside and out. You sit and are immediately welcomed. You can also order to go from the outside window. We ordered the menudo and chilaquiles, you can also add protein to it, plenty of options. It's well proportioned so shareable if desired. They have refreshing strawberry water that's a much!! Has a mom and pop feel. Will recommend. If paying by card you will need to go to the window outside.

Good food, and great service! Very friendly owner. Also, super reasonable prices! They have indoor seating, some outdoor seating and a to-go window. Parking lot is small and is shared with other businesses.

Don't let this "hole in the wall" fool you! 1 star - Staff is so friendly, helpful and all around lovely. 1 star - Price point is incredibly reasonable for the quality and portion size 1 star - they have their own parking lot 1star - they have a little indoor dining area that is super clean and bright to sit in 1 star - the food was very yummy and generous in portion. I loved their take on the burrito egg not being just scrambled but actually rolled into the soft and perfectly grilled tortilla. The chipotle sauce that it came with is absolute fire. Can't wait to come back! Support your local businesses friends!

Bubu's Mexican Restaurant is located in Long Beach, California, close to LBC College and City of Signal Hill. It is open for breakfast and late lunch, seven days a week. The food (taste and presentation) and the service were superb, great enough to be the place to take welcomed out of town visitors if they have a craving for great Mexican food from LA (even though it is in LB). Bubu's restaurant has been open for more than a year, but only appeared in my radar because a posted picture was on my Yelp feed's front page. It is located on Orange Avenue, and since there is really no reason for us to be around that area, we've never seen it before. However, the reviews really pumped up my enthusiasm to take a drive, so we came around lunch time on a Friday. They share a dedicated parking lot with other businesses in the Orange Plaza strip mall, so didn't have to find street parking. The outside is an interesting set-up, with a walk-up window to the right, and some outside tables butting against the parking lot. So it appears like a typical taco stand, but reading reviews, we knew they had dine-in service as well. You walk in the open door, and was seated with menus. It's not a big dining room, but it wasn't too busy inside. Two servers helped us through our journey, with our main server, Alandra, being super friendly and helpful. With her help, we ordered (and greatly enjoyed) the following: -- Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus tea) for $4 - one free refill. My wife really enjoyed it, not too sweet. One free refill: Alandra even offered to give the refill as a to-go, and my wife was enjoying it at home the next day. -- Carnitas Plate - $12.75 - substituted extra rice for the pinto beans. They did give a double portion of rice (bit mushy per my wife), a healthy amount of shredded, moist pork, and a flavorful pico de gallo. -- breakfast chilequiles $12 - breakfast is served all-day, so decided to get this for lunch. It comes with 2 eggs, your way (sunny-side up in my case), sliced avocado, decent pinto beans and some of the best tortilla chips soaked in green chile sauce that I've ever eaten. It had been prepared just for me, and would have been mush if I had waited to eat it an hour later. But eating it right after it had been prepared by the chef...heavenly. It's as good as the chilequiles from Interstellar, better if you prefer green sauce. And it's only $12. Next time, I'm getting it with scrambled eggs. -- side of Barbacoa ($5) - a generous dollop of shredded beef, perfect to share. I ate it with the homemade corn tortillas that came with one of our dishes. My wife used the generous gravy to flavor her carnitas. We made this almost a fine dining experience by waiting to see if we were too full for dessert, but decided to create take-home leftovers just so we could order the Churro Balls with Ice Cream ($7) to eat-in. A review had stated that it came with coffee ice cream, which would have been amazing. But vanilla was what was available. It did take a bit of time to come out, but when it did, it was clear why. Each of the 7 donut balls had been deep fried, topped with chocolate and sprinkled with sugar, with fresh strawberry slices at the corners. The center had two small scoops of good vanilla ice cream, topped with a mint leaf and a strawberry freshly carved into a rose. It was plated as if coming from a fine dining restaurant. It tasted exactly like one would imagine...fresh donut holes with good ice cream and strawberries...yum. Paying wasn't the most efficient. A hand written receipt is given for payment, with just a total price. There is a slight surcharge for using a credit card (extra $1.60). Once you decide, you can hand/state the payment (including tip amount) to the server. She then came back with a receipt, which did have an itemized list of charges. Everything was accurate, but can imagine the process has areas where mistakes could be made and not caught. But I'm glad they are not just cash-only. When the time is right, a better POS process would greatly benefit the restaurant. The menu has pictures...this was one of those times when the dish presented was better than the picture on the menu. It did take a bit for the dishes to be made, but once it did, it was clear why: for each dish, the chef had made sure to prepare what he could only once the order was placed. I imagine the kitchen could get backed up if it got too busy. If you have the time, dine-in is the way to go. But I can confidently say I would wait almost any length for the food we got served, especially for this price...it was really, really good.
